Biography: The volunteer group of community carers at the Mabaso Community Care Centre consists of around fifteen female home-based community care workers, ranging in age but predominantly younger. Most of these women have been doing this work for several years by the time of the interview. They work out of the former hospital in Maandagshoek which is now run as a small community clinic. This group tends to the entire Maandagshoek community and earn very little.
Description: This interview with the volunteer group of community carers at the Mabaso Community Care Centre in Maandagshoek was conducted by Dale McKinley and Ahmed Veriava in 2007 as part of the South African History Archive's Alternative History Project, titled 'Forgotten Voices in the Present'.
