Biography: Shaykh Mamadou Mbodj is from a fishing family in Bargny, located on the coast about 15 km east of Dakar. He was 91 years old at the time of the interview. After joining the Buh Kunta Way and taking the Qadiriyya wird at the age of 23, he became the main singer of religious songs in his home town. He sang at many ceremonies in the area until 1987 when illness compelled him to give it up.
Description: Shaykh Mamadu Mbodj describes his activities as a member of the Buh Kunta Qadiriyya, especially as a singer. He speaks about the relationship between his home town of Bargny and Ndiassane and recalls the ziaara (pious visits) he and other followers made to Ndiassane when Sidy Lamin Kunta was khalif.
