Biography: Born around 1924, Serigne Mouhamadou Masokhna Lo is a great Mouride scholar, poet, Wolofal writer and speaker. He is a member of the group of the 28 scholars chosen by the recently deceased Khalifa of the Mourides (Serigne Saliou Mbacke) for the daily complete recital of the Holy Qur'ān in the Great Mosque of Diourbel. The group is charged with reading the Qur'ān five times a day. This recitation of the Qur'ān is said to be an important Mouride tradition recommended by Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba for peace and blessings in the country and the world.
