Introduction
Description: Another engraving from the French traveler Durand at the beginning of the 19th century. Moors and other slave-raiders used violent means - including the horses, swords and arson showed here - to secure a slave labor force to do things like harvesting the gum of the last image. This engraving contains the following caption, "Les Maures poursuivant les Nègres pour les faires Esclaves."
