Biography: Shaykh Buh Njaay lives in Thies. He was about 107 years old at the time of the interview. Mr. Njaay spent his childhood and youth in Ndiassane until his elder brother came to get him in 1917 and had him teach in the Koranic school he had in Fassette. His father was a disciple of Muhammed Fadil Mamin of Mauritania and his elder brother was a follower of El Haj Malik Sy. Mr. Njaay himself received the Tijaniyya wird from El Haj Malik Sy.
Description: Shaykh Buh Njaay recalls the circumstances surrounding his birth that led his father to give him into the care of Buh Kunta as a young child. He recounts what he remembers about Buh Kunta, how he lived in his household, and his religious education. Interview in Wolof with French translation.
