Dispute- Spouse's Role

Dispute- Spouse's Role is a classification term for this particular project. This term is used to identify a case where a married couple comes to court because the husband believes his wife is not fulfilling her proper role or the wife believes her husband is not fulfilling his expected role or failing at his responsibilities.

Badjie VS Sarr: Court Transcript (1952)

Date: March 27, 1952
Sainabou Badjie brought her husband Mansour Sarr before the Qadi claiming that he refused to sleep with her and also refused to maintain her. The Qaid advised them to reconcile.

Fofana VS Senghor:Court Transcript (1952)

Date: July 21, 1952
Awa Fofana brought her husband Mukhtarr Senghor before the Qadi of Bathurst and complained that her husband Mukhtarr did not cloth and maintain her well. Mukhtarr refuted Awa's claims but the Qadi ordered Mukhtarr to pay for the maintenance of the children and referred them to the Police Court.

Hydara VS Mbacke: Court Transcript (1953)

Date: December 1, 1953
The claimant, Isatou Hydara complained that her husband Ousman Mbacke accused her of fornication and criticized her ethnic origins. She cited these are the reasons she left the marriage and household. Ousman said that he did not ask her to leave. Jaw VS Jallow: Court Transcript (1927)

Date: May 19, 1927
Kumba Jaw brought her husband Muhammad Jallow before the Qadi of Bathurst claiming that Muhammad molested and insulted her. The Qadi asked Kumba Jaw to return to Muhammad but she chose divorce.

Njie VS Fatoumata: Court Transcript (1952)

Date: May 27, 1952
Fatoumata Sawo brought her husband Ekeri Njie to claim for her maintenance, remainder of her dowry, and money he promised to give her. The Qadi asked Ekeri to give Fatoumata the money and marriage should continue.

Sanneh VS Jammeh: Court Transcript (1952)

Date: April 24, 1952
Aminata Sanneh brought her husband Sainey Jammeh before the Qadi of Bathurst and complained that Saniey refused to take care of her while she was sick.The husband denied the allegation and said that the wife used to put spell on him.

Sowe VS Sanneh: Court Transcript (1952)

Date: May 20, 1952
Fatou Sowe came to court so that her husband Abicks Sanneh could return her to Kaolack, Senegal.
